2010 Konigsburg Memorial Regatta

Severn Sailing Association, Annapolis MD

June 5-6.

MANY THANKS !~! to all who came out for the Konigsberg! Our numbers are up this year and we had 15 boats! Thanks to every one of you who came out and sailed your yot!!!!    and many thanks to the Michos and the Parkers who traveled from the Great  Buckeye State!!

The Standings-

Yes,
Yoda won, BUT,...He only won two of the 6 races that were run. Yes,  His throwout  was a 2nd. So consistency pays. Good to see Jen Campbell back in the boat picking shifts. We hope to have her in her own yot soon!  I have heard Brent has some housing options for nationals. Contact the master direct for details..

2nd- The Reshetiloff's can now display two silver Chevrons on their main!  They are moving up and have a new mast. They were solid all weekend.. This family is the housing czars of Naptown and the fleet is very appreciative of their help!!

3rd- Team Michos. what can you say? 7,6.5, 4,1, 1...How's dem Numbers??

4th-
The Parkers- Tied with the Michos and  mistook the pin for the finish in the 5th race. How many of us have done that? Well sailed consistent finishes and a 4th in the last race with a downwind finish and no pole! wonderful to finally meet Bryan and Tiffany!  What a wonderful addition these two are to the class!  His dad and Uncle built jets in the mid 70's and are Parker Marine,  (of which Bryan is a part of)  and is famous for many a refinished Star boat or Thistle!

5th- James/ Pete/Susan - Continuing the press. Always in the top!

7th- New comer Dan Wittig sailing the Mckenna's 1140. If we can get this guy out again?  it would be great!~  he won one race!

8th- Kate and Max. back out in force for both days!

9th-Scott and Aubrey- At one point I thought Aubrey had thrown Scott off the boat, but, it was not to be, he was under the foredeck fiddling with the jib halyard. Oh, the wonderful things you can do with a untanked jet.. You can sleep in the bow if it so moves thee...

10th-Elaine Lamb and Nick Moreau- Hung in there for every race. Tough conditions. Just a little Thistle without the huge main!

11- Eric and Cathy- Thanks for coming out on the second day and helping to get Bob and Mary back out!

12- Darren-Only sails with family, no matter how deep one needs to go. Looked like yoos guys had a good time!

13- His Bobness. That is right, the rock-star from
Sailing Anarchy, his bad ass self.. 5th first time out in the jet in a year and a half.  beat me..Not that I can say it will improve his J30 sailing.. He is already on top of that. Even with his choice of mainsails for the NOOD. BTW- i am formally starting a petition to have him win the sportsman award for US Sailing.. there was one point approaching the windward mark, I tacked. Bob stayed. Next time I looked over, His boat was pointed 40 degrees higher to the mark.. ( I bet Mary called that...)  Too much time spent with Stu Walker and the tide sticks,... I surmise....

14- Paul Hull and his Junior crew, whose name escapes me at the present time,.. Paul just got into the class from the Penguin class and has agreed to take a FD boat, #436. We are lucky that he has decided to join us!! Welcome!!!!  He is a former IC winter SSA sailor and his crew won the top junior driver award!

15- Randy Bruns- Threatened to have his wife Barb in the boat, but did not. but did have fellow SSA sailor John Mulcahy sailing with him. Real good at writing checks. Especially on that plastic thingy that goes OVER the check..

IMHO, the RC was great and it worked well with the
Snipes. I hope everyone had enough to eat and drink. No sightings of engineers dancing or bridge diving but I think everyone had a good time. ( I hope)  Conditions were trying on sat as is typical with Naptown with many shifts and holes etc. Sunday was heavier with not as many shifts. Perhaps some of the leaders can chime in better on conditions, tactics and speed. Please plan on bringing your game to Naptown Oct  2nd-3rd for our next invitational . We can promise housing, good food, libations and the wonderful provenance that is : Annapolis, Maryland.
