2008 Great Sacandaga Regatta

The Bertocci's (Guido and son Simon), sailing #1148 from Spruce Run,NJ  mastered the breezy conditions to dominate this event sailed on beautiful Great Sacandaga Lake. Four races were held in 10-20 knot winds, and Team Bertocci put the hammer down early, winning the first 3 races. Sean and Kerrie DeFusco(#1105) from Rhode Island won the last race, which was enough to grab second overall, ahead of Brent Barbehenn and Chris Whalen in #1151. Matt and Dan Japikse (#664) pushed the leaders all day, and ended up 4th. Dean and Kelly Whalen in #716 looked good early, but broke a main halyard. Avery Sohn (#910) with Mom crewing for the first time rounded out the fleet.

Sunday turned out calm, and when the rain started, the enthusiam to race turned into the desire to to get home early, so races were cancelled for the day.

This event also doubled as the District IV Championship, and Team Japikse was victorious.
