July 7
Six Jets made it to the regatta, hoping to glean luck from the luckiest of all days: July 7, 2007 and tune up for the Nationals in Island Heights. The Michoses hoped to put #7 on the water but the varnish wasn't drying fast enough.
The Race Committee got off three
windward/leeward races. All three races had intense competition
stressing good starts. There were a lot of overlaps at the marks.
Dave and Sue Michos on #217 led the fleet with three bullets, though
third-place Bridget Ireland and Seth Parker in #1147 kept finding good
stuff on the right corner to contest their lead a couple of times.
Marion and Carol Zaugg (#1132) kept the heat on finishing second. Nate
Ireland had #1134 going good So did newcomer Brad Koinis and fiancee
Kate in their newly bought and re-rigged #1091. The boat is still
getting bugs worked out but still managed to finish the first race
before losing their jib halyard. Ivan Baker and friend Shana also made
it out in #443.
Ohio
Jetters have been busy the past couple of years promoting their boats
across the state. In the past we've attended invitational regattas at
Sandusky and Vermillion. The multi-class regattas have proven a great
promotion for the Jet and peaked interest from potential Jetters.
