A fleet of nine Jet 14's participated in the Crystal Bowl Regatta held at the West River Sailing Club in Galesville, MD on May 24, 2003. In what is typically seen as the kick off to the summer schedule considering the regatta is held on Memorial Day weekend, this year's Crystal Bowl participants were treated to heavy clouds, but no rain with air and water temperatures around 60 degrees. For the second consecutive weekend on the Chesapeake Bay, the Jet fleet sailed in a light to non-existent north-easterly with very little boat traffic.
After three windward-leeward races, the fleet retired to the club for chili and cornbread and some much needed liquid refreshments. For a moment, there was even a brief sighting of the sun, which has been quite rare in the mid-Atlantic area for the past few weeks. As you can see from the results, there were quite a few boats with a mix and match set of skippers and crews.
All in all, it was terrific to get out on the water and spend some time with the Jet family.
