The 2002 Jet-14 Atlantic Coast Championship Regatta, sailed by 17 boats, was won by Brent Barbehenn with Abe Porter as crew. Second went to David Hansen with Parker Garrett; and third, to Marion Zaugg with Roy Brant. Dave also won the District IV championship. The "B" Fleet trophy went to Chris Hennon and crew, Paula Hennon; and the Persistence Award to Larry Bruns and Gary Nackman.
Four races were sailed Saturday, July 6, and two, Sunday morning, July 7. Despite a promising forecast, the first race was sailed in winds of 0-6 kt. with the major direction swing being between bearings of 100 and 210 degrees. However, during the race, at one point or another, the wind visited each point of the compass. After lunch, the winds settled in with a WNW predominant direction and speeds of 8-13 kt. Higher gusts occurred in race four. Race one was modified olympic, races two and three, triangles, and race four, olympic.
On Sunday, the wind speeds persisted in the 8-13 range with some building in race six. Directions were SSW and W. Both races were modified olympic.
